Labrador Retriever / Hound Dog

"Caribbean Ten Puppy" Dominica (Has Application) the Dog needs a home

Lab/Hound Mix, Female, Born 12/5/16, ~13 lbs as of 3/30/17

Dog Name: Dominica

Suspected Breed(s): Lab/ Hound Mix

Gender: Female

Age: Born 12/5/2016 (4 mos as of 4/5)

Weight: 13 lbs as of 3/30. Mom weighs ~50 lbs. and we do not know who the father is. She is the smallest of this littler, so we expect her to be about 40-50 lbs, but can't make any weight guarantees.

Personality: Puppy! Fun, energetic, active, affectionate, cuddly

Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs

Observations with Cats: Has not been around cats yet

Observations with Kids: Good with kids, but puppy adopters should expect that they will need to train puppies not to jump, nip, rough play, etc. as they get older and bigger.

House Training Progress: Puppy adopters should expect to house train from scratch.

Crate Training Progress: Puppy adopters should expect to crate train from scratch and crate training is highly encouraged.

Location: DC area foster

Rescued From: Pickens County, SC

Additional Information: The Caribbean Puppies's mom, Gillian, was picked up as a stray very pregnant. Such a sweet girl, we had to rescue her, and she soon delivered ten little babies in foster care.

All

are sweet, active puppies that will make you laugh and smile.

They are growing quickly and are eager to be united with forever families. Apply to adopt one today!

The puppies will be given age-appropriate vet care prior to adoption, but adopters should be prepared to continue routine vet care required for puppies (including immunizations) and spay/neuter the puppy when age appropriate. An adoption counselor will discuss this further with applicants.

Dominica is generously sponsored by Rachel Gumpert.

If you are interested in meeting a dog, we require an adoption application. Visit http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt.html to apply. If a dog has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.

If a dog has "NEEDS FOSTER" listed, they are still available for adoption. Information about our current dogs in need of fosters can be found here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/current-dogs-in-need-of-a-foster.html and the application to foster is here: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster.html.

City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).

Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet.
Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained.
Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.

We do our best to disclose all health records and known health conditions to adopters. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations and health tests, but does not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR & CK.  City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.

We also update our
Facebook page
daily with new dogs.
